Zander Circuitry - Surplus Overdrive Guitar Pedal, handmade in the UK
Zander Circuitry - Surplus
A slightly tamer, yet unusual offering from us.
The Surplus is a dual channel boost/overdrive offering a huge range of clean boost, dirty boost, overdrive and even fuzzy tones!
Tone – A low pass filter that lets you dial out a bit of the high end.
Response – Alters the input and output capacitor value, which alters the low end and can create some very unusual broken overdrive sounds when dialled back. When either of the gain controls are dimed you go into spittt/gated drive territory, not dissimilar to the sound you’d get from plugging directly into a recording console.
Our signature 6 way clipping diode rotary is then added in to offer even more versatility, allowing you to choose from:
Germanium – A smooth, sweet sounding form of clipping, very ‘amp-like’ in its response.
Silicon – Louder, brighter and more brittle sounding.
Red LED – Much louder, less saturated but very punchy and aggressive.
MOSFET – Similar in output to Silicon but a bit ‘sweeter’ sounding, crunchier and a little more saturated.
Transistor – Very similar to MOSFET but a bit brighter.
None – Loads of output, the lowest gain of the bunch. Great for vintage style fuzz tones. The channel 2 footswitch activates a second set of level & gain controls, allowing you to set up one as a boost/light drive and the other as a heavier overdrive.
Please do not try to power this pedal with anything other than 9v, doing so will cause your shiny new pedal to stop working permanently, and no one wants that
